Step-by-Step: Lunchbox or snack pastry wheel

Inspired by all the festive wreaths we saw over Christmas, we thought we would transform good old puff pastry – a pantry must for any lazy cook – into a delicious pizza wheel wreath using Pronto Mama Slow-Cooked Tomatoes. It’s so easy, you can even get the little cooks involved! And they will love these in their lunchboxes.

What you’ll need:

1 pack of puff pastry, thawed
handful of pitted olives
350ml grated Cheddar cheese
6 pieces of ham or salami, chopped
Pronto Mama Slow-Cooked Tomatoes
Fresh herbs like oregano or basil
Ribbon to tie, for decoration

Serves 4 as a snack or makes approx 12 portions

Step 1: Pre-heat the oven to 200C. Roll out the puff pastry and scoop some Pronto Mama tomatoes onto it, spreading it evenly.  Sprinkle the cheese, olives, ham or salami and oregano over and roll the pastry up into a long roll.

Step 2: Carefully roll up the dough onto itself like a Swiss roll.

Step 3: Now cut slices of about 2cm wide, being careful that the filling doesn’t pop out. Arrange these in a circle on a sprayed baking sheet, so that each slice is closely touching the next and will bake as a wreath.

Step 4: Bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked. Tie a ribbon for decoration. Enjoy!
